As the end of the year approaches, it feels like pressure builds towards the last week of December. It might be a push to get holiday gifts for loved ones, seeing work initiatives pushed over the finish line, or just planning new routines for the first day of the new year.
The number of pins that need to be juggled only seems to increase as the year draws to a close. With each commitment comes another pin to throw into the mix, at what point is it too many pins to keep in the air?
My struggle is finding the balance between depleting the tank to make the most of this final push and the reality that the more socializing I do, the more depleted my battery becomes. Then the “resting” is counterbalanced by the guilt of not participating in this or that; it can be an endless cycle that only gets interrupted by reminding myself that I can only contribute so much each week. I have to be okay with dividing my time and energy to ensure I’m setting aside time and care for myself.
