What’s New?
New Map
New Enemies
Updated Prompts
Dog Leg Left + Right
I’ll admit, sometimes the updates that I implement into Daily D6 land for me, and sometimes they don’t. This past update was a perfect example of an update to the map that just didn’t work for me. Ultimately, I believe it comes down to the restriction being annoying more than challenging. It ended up providing too much friction in the “game” component.
Introducing challenge isn’t always a bad thing; in fact, I’m typically a proponent of making games more challenging. It can introduce new ways of thinking about how you approach the game. In the case of this last update, though, I’ll be frank, it landed with a big wet thud after repeated attempts. The elements that I initially perceived to be challenging were, in fact, just annoying, detracting from the experience.
So how do we remedy this? Easy, we just reset the map to a different state. I want to make sure I’m willing to try out new ideas in this. To do that successfully(in my opinion), I need to know when something just doesn’t work, and in this case, it doesn’t.
🌫️ Encounter — The Whispering Grotto
A thin waterfall trickles through a crack in the cavern ceiling, but instead of splashing, the water dissipates into mist mid-air. The mist curls around your ankles, carrying faint whispers that sound suspiciously like your own thoughts — but twisted, shortened, and hurried, as if spoken by someone who knows your secrets too well.
What will you do?
Reach your hand into the mist — Gain 2 XP
Step behind the falling water to see the source — Gain 1 AP
Close your eyes and listen to the whispers fully — Gain 3 XP
Attempt to dispel the mist with a strong breath — Lose 1 AP
Follow the whispers deeper into a narrow tunnel — Lose 2 HP
Sit still and let the mist settle around you — Gain 1 XP
